You study and live in France, why did you decide to do an internship at BOC Group in Austria?
I wanted to discover a new working environment abroad and challenge myself outside my comfort zone. BOC Group is an international company, well known for its tools in Business Process Management and Enterprise Architecture. Doing my internship in Vienna allowed me to combine technical learning with a multicultural experience, while still contributing to projects for French clients.
How were your first steps during this internship and how did you experience working abroad?
The first days were very smooth. I was integrated into the French-speaking team, so I could work in French while being exposed daily to English and German content. The company culture is collaborative and supportive, which made adaptation easy. Living abroad in Vienna was enriching both personally and professionally, because I had to adapt to a new environment while benefiting from the international spirit of the headquarters.
What were your tasks and objectives during your internship?
During my internship, I contributed to building an Enterprise Architecture repository for in ADOIT, defining a modeling convention and producing cartographies and analysis matrices to support strategic decision-making. I also created a PowerPoint training on ADOIT’s collaborative features, including hands-on exercises, to help users adopt the tool effectively. Additionally, I worked on marketing and prospecting campaigns targeting universities, business schools, and public institutions, preparing messages, content, and automated LinkedIn outreach. Finally, I modeled standard business processes in ADONIS (e.g., recruitment, invoicing, work accident management) to improve visibility, compliance, and efficiency.
What were the main challenges you faced during these three months? How did you manage them?
The main challenge was to quickly become familiar with complex tools like ADOIT and ADONIS, and to apply standards such as ArchiMate and BPMN in a practical way. Another challenge was to ensure that the models and materials were clear and accessible for clients who are not experts in modeling. I managed this by working iteratively, getting regular feedback from my mentors, and gradually improving the deliverables.
How did you benefit from your studies during your internship?
My engineering studies gave me the ability to analyze problems, structure information, and communicate clearly. I could apply my theoretical background in systems modeling and process analysis to real business cases. The methodological approach taught at school was very useful for managing projects in a structured way.
Which skills and qualifications helped you most during your time abroad?
Technical skills in modeling and IT were essential, but soft skills were just as important: adaptability, communication, and teamwork. Being able to switch between languages and contexts also helped me a lot. Tools like Excel/VBA, PowerPoint, and collaborative platforms (Teams, Confluence, SharePoint) were also key in my daily work.
What would you tell your friends and colleagues about your time at BOC Group?
It was a very valuable experience. I learned a lot about enterprise architecture and business process management, while working in a truly international environment. The team was welcoming and supportive, and I had the chance to contribute to meaningful projects. I would definitely recommend BOC Group as a place to grow both technically and personally.
