WfMC Workflow Management Coalition

The Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) was founded in 1993. The initial work of the Coalition focused on publishing the Reference Model and Glossary, defining a common architecture and terminology for the industry. A major milestone was achieved with the publication of the first versions of the Workflow API (WAPI) specification, covering the Workflow Client Application Interface, and the Workflow Interoperability specification. The Audit Data specification was added in 1997, followed by the Process Definition Import/Export specification. Currently the community comprises more than 300 vendors, users, consultants, and scientific members. The current work is based on the XML Process Defintion Language (XPDL) and the WebService-based workflow specifiactions Wf-XML.
